Camping Australia carry a range of swags that are designed and manufactured for Australian conditions. The range includes single basic swags, through to super deluxe domes and double swags. We stock a wide range of swags suitable for any purpose including Australian’s most well-known brands.
Getting your swag ready
New canvas products require conditioning. Simply pitch your swag and wet it down with a garden hose and let it dry. This allows the stiching holes to shrink and the stiching thread to swell, allowing a seal to form. It may be necessary to repeat the process 2 or 3 times to fully condition the canvas. Ensure the swag is completely dry before packing away.
A traditional first aid treatment for canvas is to always carry a wax stick. After storage, use or transport, canvas may develop a damp area in wet conditions. Simply rub the candle wax to the outside of the damp area and this will create a waterproof barrier. Wax can also be good for seams to prevent water from entering the stiching holes.
Packing Up Your Swag
-
Close all zips.
-
Detach guy ropes.
-
Fold overhanging canvas and ropes to centre of swag.
-
Disassemble poles, fold together, and leave inside canvas sleeves.
-
Roll the swag tight from head end, connect buckles, tighten straps. Do not over tighten.
-
Allow a wet or damp swag to dry before packing. If not possible, unroll swag when convenient and allow to dry before repacking it.

Good Swag Things to Know
-
Condensation may occur in cool or moist conditions.
-
Point swag foot end into the wind.
-
Foam mattress may compress form being rolled up for long periods; it may be partially restored by leaving it outside in the sun for a short time.
-
Swag’s sizes are approximate only, due to natural shrinking and stretching of canvas depending on the weather.
-
Re-proofing of the seams and hard wearing areas may be necessary after extended usage.
-
Generally our swags are proofed at the point of manufacture, but use of a quality brush on proofing agent can prolong the swag life for years to come.
